Federal Government announces close to $20 million for BC Companies

On November 13, at Precision Nanosystems in Vancouver Granville, the Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould, announced Government of Canada support to help British Columbian businesses bring innovative products, processes and services to market faster.

Minister Wilson-Raybould made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada.

Close to $20 million in funding was announced for British Columbian companies. These projects cover a range of sectors including information and cultural industries; professional, scientific and technical services; utilities; mining, oil and gas extraction; and manufacturing.

Western Innovation (WINN) Initiative is a federal initiative that offers repayable contributions for western Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help move new and innovative technologies from the later stages of research and development to the marketplace.

WINN positions WD as a leader in supporting western Canadian business innovation and promotes WD’s goals of enabling innovation in Western Canada and advancing western business interests in the international marketplace.

These projects showcase the Government of Canada’s commitment to the Innovation Agenda through strategic investments that build on competitive regional advantages.

The Government of Canada recognizes that our economy should work for all Canadians. We want to see Canadian businesses, large and small, create high-quality jobs, and we want them to compete in the knowledge economy, driven by creative, boundary-pushing ideas.
