Today at sunset, Jewish communities in Vancouver Granville and beyond will gather to mark the beginning of Hanukkah.
The Festival of Lights will be celebrated for eight nights, with families and loved ones gathering to light the candles of the menorah, beginning with one candle on the first night until all eight candles are lit on the eighth night.
This year more than ever, Hanukkah is a time to be reminded of the power of coming together in solidarity and celebrating the light that drowns out the darkness.
Together with my husband Tim, I wish all who begin their celebration tonight a joyous and peaceful Hanukkah.
