The Constituency Youth Council (CYC), is an exciting and unique opportunity for young people to share their thoughts with the Member of Parliament, and create meaningful change in the community. These main objectives will work to engage youth -locally and across the nation.
Canada’s democracy flourishes when all Canadians are provided the opportunity to voice their perspectives and to have these values reflected in the actions of the government representing them. Our Government has committed to the inclusion of young people in policy dialogue. We have worked to create platforms for youth to share their opinions in a manner that is both effective and sincere.
In addition to these important policy discussions, Council members will also be involved in the planning of a local community project. This initiative will be decided by the members of the Council and will work towards positively impacting Vancouver Granville.
The Vancouver Granville youth council is comprised of up to 20 members, who will attend meetings either bi-weekly or monthly depending on their position. The CYC will runs from Fall to Summer, and members are selected to participate for one term. If they would like, past members can still remain engaged as a mentor.
