A call to Vancouver Granville youth:
Apply to be a part of Jody’s Youth Council!
The Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould, Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville would like to invite young people currently in high school to apply for the Constituency Youth Council (CYC). This is an exciting and unique opportunity to share your thoughts with your Member of Parliament, and create meaningful change in the community. These main objectives will work to engage youth -locally and across the nation.
Canada’s democracy flourishes when all Canadians are provided the opportunity to voice their perspectives and to have these values reflected in the actions of the government representing them. Our Government has committed to the inclusion of young people in policy dialogue. We have worked to create platforms for youth to share their opinions in a manner that is both effective and sincere.
In conjunction with these important policy discussions, Council members will also be involved in the planning of a local community project. This initiative will be decided by the members of the Council and will work towards positively impacting Vancouver Granville.
The Vancouver Granville youth council will comprise of 9-12 members who will attend meetings bi-weekly or once a month depending on their position. The CYC will run from fall 2017 to summer of 2018. Please refer to the FAQ’s for more information and logistical details.
The application is linked below. Applications are due at 11:59PM on Thursday October 19th 2017. If needed, there will be an interview conducted (either by phone or in person). We sincerely look forward to meeting and working with this year`s Constituency Youth Council.
